The Minase clan's Kekkei Genkai deals with the absorption of vitamins and minerals from the ground, the soil or any such similar materials. The substance absorbed by the clan member is then turned into chakra usable within the body. This process is much like digestion process of the human body wherein the body processes food and absorbs the needed nutrition for the body's energy reserves for use.

When said materials are used for absorption, its structure fails and deteriorates at an atomic level. Think implosion in this case. For example, rock stood upon and used for absorption will become brittle and eventually shatter under the slightest pressure or weight forced upon it; or soil would become too loose to stand on, thus causing, a person for example, to sink into the ground which attributes have turned much into like quicksand - soft, yet dense.

Because of the nature of the Minase clan's abilities, they are limited to using Doton techniques, but at a stronger level once they have mastered their Kekkei Genkai. That is their price for strength.
